I have had my reservations about telling the world about this, for the past few months this place has been that special kind of thing that only you and your friends know about. The type of place that, if you give one of your friends a look they already know what you’re thinking.

Since April, that place has been Chevys. Quietly tucked away across the street from Pentagon City Mall where I, as well as many other college students have been going to for years is a small chain Mexican restaurant that you will want to claim as your own after the first time you visit.

There has been no other happy hour as satisfying as Chevys’ since I’ve been in the DC Metro area.

Everything on the happy hour menu is under $3.25, and man do you get a bang for your buck. On the food side there are six options filled to the brim with satisfaction.

The favorite is definitely the Crispy Flautas; salsa chicken, roasted red peppers, grilled corn and cheese slightly crisped in flour tortillas, served with a mango-habanero salsa and jalapeno. There are also a good selection of nachos available if that’s what you prefer.

Lastly, the coup de grace are the margaritas, which come in seasonal fresh fruit flavors offering a variety of joy to the palate.

Being that I am a senior in college i would like to think that I spend my time with some seasoned drinkers, the endless parties that served Everclear and Velicoff mixes have honed and tested the tolerance of those around me to the extremity, so believe me when i say that NO ONE has EVER been able to make it past four margaritas and walk a straight line home, so please approach with caution.

So there you have it, I hope that you will enjoy my little secret as I have and please don’t get too attached because eventually, you are going to have to share this diamond in the rough with somebody.
