As a student, I often find my classmates trying to find something that they can purchase that is; quick, tasty, and convenient. It is really difficult to find all of these things packed into one. Trail mix is quite popular for this reason. There are so many different nuts, fruits, and candies all together in the same place. However, some of these mixes have so many ingredients that the “mix” is no longer healthy!
For this reason, I did some experimenting myself and found that cranberries and almonds are actually a great combo. Almonds are a wonderful source of fiber, vitamin E, and other nutrients that we may miss with a hectic, collegiate schedule. Dried cranberries usually have added sugar in them, but that aside, they are still known for providing antioxidants. Try the recipe below or put together your own mix. Either way, you’ll reap the rewards of saved money and a tasty treat!
Cranberries and Almonds trail mix
- 1/3 cup dried cranberries
- ½ cup toasted almonds
Just mix the two and enjoy. Once you have tried this you may want to change the ratio of cranberries to almonds to your specific liking.
