If you’re a true Hip-Hop head and into the underground scene, NeakO is probably one of the guys you’ve been trying to keep up with. With his third mixtape, Jabari & The NMC Present: NeakO “The Rubix Cube: Blue Edition,” he’s even more unstoppable!

Now, if you haven’t been following NeakO, you definitely should be. This Jersey native has been rapping since the age of 12 and it shows. NeakO is no amateur. Not only is he an artist, he produces, as well. When you check out the album, you will certainly see his range; he executive produced half the album along with Howard University alum and Hip-Hop interviewer extraordinaire, Jabari Johnson. “Blue Edition” has a Kanye, Pharrell influence to it. It’s no wonder those two artists are who keep NeakO inspired.

A couple of the hottest tracks on the album include Rock On (Feat. Bun B) (Prod. by NeakO) and Under The Shade (Prod. by Jahi Chambers). Honorable mention goes to Smooth Sailing (Prod. by Chase N. Cashe). This record actually uses a sample from Kanye’s “808s & Heart Break’s,” I’m Not Loving You. It’s extremely creative and hot.

I must say that Cold Shoulder (Prod. by NeakO) is my personal fav (kudos to NeakO on that entire track).

It has a “Hip-Hopera” feel, like you’re right there in the orchestra pit. Play this track for an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend if you’re not quite sure how to break it off, “You used to pay attention to the thing that’s in your chest ticker ticker beat beat is what it told you that was love girl it controlled you…” Dopest quote! For my more hardcore hood rap music fans, They Already Know (Prod. by NeakO) is a great track to bang.

If you have a taste for good music that’s inspiring and truthful along with a sprinkling of love, this mixtape will certainly satisfy your musical needs. Overall, “The Rubix Cube: Blue Edition” is a mixtape to definitely keep on deck.
