As you know, DC’s Restaurant Week was from January 11 to the 17th.  I have yet to miss this wonderful opportunity to venture an unexplored restaurant.  I had the pleasure of going to a Brazilian eatery for the first time!
The Grill from Ipanema sits nestled in Adams Morgan on Columbia Road.  You can’t miss the bright green neon sign above its door.  Once inside I was immediately greeted by a Brazilian hostess who was wearing a smile as bright as the sun.  The dimly lit dining area sung with the sounds of bossa nova melodies.  I noticed the bar area was fully stocked and I was sitting under what seemed like palm trees.

The walls were adorned with pictures of Brazil.  For drinks I had the Brazilian favorite, Caipirinha, and my date had a Brazilian beer. After a few sips, we had the pleasure of ordering two different plates for each meal from the menu.  Our appetizers were Mexilhão á Carioca, which is comprised of large half shell mussels in a leek, garlic, and butter sauce.

The other appetizer was Abacate Marajá, which consists of half of an avocado stuffed with shrimp, tomato, cilantro, onion, green pepper, and a

homemade dressing–very light on the palate.  Our entree was much anticipated.  The Carne de Sol was calling me.  The steak was cooked to perfection, I recommend medium-well for the flavor.  The fried yuca was not saturated at all.  The black eye peas salad was bursting with Latin flavor.  The cilantro, the lime juice….mmmmm.

My date ordered the Salmão á Vila Verde–salmon in a white wine, green peppercorn, and asparagus sauce served with rice, vegetables, and mashed potatoes.  Delicious!  Though I usually do not eat dessert, it was part of the discounted meal.

I swear, if I could have what we ordered at every restaurant I go to, I would!

Point blank, YOU HAVE TO GO!~~~~~Ciao!
